1. ‘be supposed to’๋ ์ฌ๋ฌ ๊ฐ์ง ์์ถ๋ ์ํฉ์์ ์๋๋ค.
Use ‘be supposed to’to talk about different kinds of expectations:
a. ๊ท์น๋ค rules
You’re not supposed to park over here. There’s a NO PARKING sign.
์ฌ๊ธฐ์ ์ฃผ์ฐจํ์๋ฉด ์๋ฉ๋๋ค. ์ฃผ์ฐจ๊ธ์ง ํฏ๋ง์ด ์์ต๋๋ค.
b. ์ต๊ด๋ค customs (usual ways of doing things)
The groom is supposed to arrive at the ceremony early. It’s a custom.

The weather forecast says it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.

Use ‘be supposed to’only in the simple present or the simple past.
a. ๋จ์ ํ์ฌ๋ ํ์ฌ์์ ๋ ๋ฏธ๋ ์์ ๋ฅผ ๋ํ๋ผ ๋ ์ฌ์ฉํฉ๋๋ค.
Use the simple present for the present or the future.
The bride is supposed to be here now.

Use the simple past for past expectations.
example) They were supposed to be there by 9:00, so they took a taxi.
โป‘Was/were supposed to’ ์ ‘was/were going to’ ๋ ๋ป์ ๋น์ทํ ์๋ฏธ๋ฅผ ๊ฐ์ง๋๋ค.
‘Was/were supposed to’ and ‘was/were going to’ can have similar meanings.
example)
The show was going to start at 8:00.
The show was supposed to start at 8:00.

‘ We often use ‘was/were supposed to’ or ‘was/were going to’ when something we expected to happen didn’t happen.
