 부정문 만들기

부정문을 만들 때는 일반동사와 마찬가지로 do/does/did + not을 사용합니다.

1. Make, have, let + 목적어 + 동사원형 '

누군가가 (주어가) 목적어에게 요구, 허용, 수행하도록 하는 것입니다.
목적어가 수동적인 역할을 합니다.

[Examples]
My parents make my pet learn tricks.
부모님이 나의 반려동물에게 개인기를 배우도록 (요청)했다. (require)

My teacher let her students have treats as a reward.
나의 선생님은 그녀의 학생들에게 상으로 간식을 가져가도록 했다. (permit)

My teacher has us do our homework.
나의 선생님은 우리에게 숙제를 하도록 시킨다. (perform)

 

 

 

 

2. help +목적어 + 동사원형      ->이 형태가 더 많이 쓰임.
               +목적어 + to 부정사  

두 형태 모두 가능합니다.

그래서 Help는 ‘준사역동사’라고 하며, 두 형태의 의미는 같습니다.

[Example]
She helped me do the dishes. / She heled me to do the dishes.
그녀는 내가 설거지 하는 것을 도왔다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Get + 목적어+ to부정사
get은 have와 make와 비슷한 의미를 가지며, 꼭 to부정사로 써야만 합니다.
(동사원형 안됨)

 

[Examples]
My teacher got us to stay a little later. (0)
My teacher got us stay a little later.(x)
나의 선생님은 우리를 좀 더 머물도록 했다. 
(조금 설득해서 우리를 머물도록 하는데 성공하심. )

 

 

 

 

 

간단 정리   

강도 순서 : make >  have  >  let  >  get 

-make는 '화가 났거나 어떤 권한을 가지고 강압적으로(forcefully) 하게 하는 것'

make를 쓰면 훨씬 의미가 강하고, 하고 싶지 않아도 하는 것이 됩니다.

 

-have는 '권한(authority)은 있지만 상대를 존중하면서(respectfully) 부드럽게(nice) 하게 하는 것'

have를 쓰면 주어가 나에게 요청했고, 나도 해도 상관 없거나 흔쾌히 할 것입니다.  선생님이 숙제 시키는 것을 생각하시면 쉽겠죠. 

 

-let은 '상대방에게 뭔가를 할 수 있도록 흔쾌히 승인(permission)해 주는 것'

let을 쓰면 내가 원하는 것을 주어가 허락해 주는 것이므로, let으로 승낙 해 주면 나는 기쁩니다~!!

 

-get은 '상대에게 친절하게 요청(ask)하거나, 설득하거나(persuade),  돈을 지불(pay)하거나,  속여서(trick) 하게 하는 것'

각각 문장을 읽어 보고 어떤 의미로 쓰였는지 골라 보세요.

1. let - 반려동물을 키우는 것을 엄마가 '허락'하는 의미

2. made - 'have to'라는 표현으로 항상 사진을 봐야만 하도록 '강요'하는 투이므로 make가 자연스럽습니다.

              플러스로 last night이므로 과거시제. 

3. get - 첫 줄에 'convince'가 나와있죠. 어떻게 청소하도록 설득했는지 모르겠다는 의미이므로 get입니다. get은 설득해서 무엇을 하도록 시키는 것입니다. 

4. makes - 선생님이 학생들에게 숙제를 하게 만드는 것이고 이것은 꼭 해야 하는 숙제겠죠. 

                has도 맞긴 한데...학생들이 매우 착하고 선생님 말은 항상 잘 따르는, 숙제를 좋아하는 학생들이라면..

5. let - 그녀의 학생들에게 시험을 보는 동안 사전을 보게 '허락'하는 의미.

6. got - 오페라를 싫어하는 사람을 nagging(계속 불평하고 끊임없이 잔소리)하여 결국 같이 보러가게 되었으므로.

            이미 설득을 한 것이므로 과거시제로 써야 합니다. 

7. had - 운반원에게 복사본 하나를 그녀에게 주도록 시켰죠. 운반원이므로 요청하면 기꺼이 해 줄 것입니다.
